You can’t listen to party music all the time, because life’s not always a party. You need to acknowledge the times when it’s not—that’s a well-rounded musical experience. Accept that life is complicated and sometimes music should reflect that. That’s part of what we try to do—make honest music and not be pandering or manipulative, just real. I think most people are complicated; most people have a lot of emotions and people who don’t have emotions are kind of weird.
